About
Dr Victor Bluett, BSc, PhD, PGCE is an independent professional tutor of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. He has qualified teacher status, an excellent academic record, as well as over 30 years teaching and tutoring experience.
I was recommended to Victor by my brother as I was struggling with my A-level Maths!
I particularly valued Victor’s ability to clearly explain, with enthusiasm, topics which I struggled to understand. His adaptable style of teaching made every lesson feel tailored to my method of learning. Victor was always eager to demonstrate why one method of solving a question was superior to another, which showed a real passion for his subject.
Victor’s lessons were highly enjoyable and the time flew by!
A-level pupil, maths
Victor is a wonderful tutor! He explains concepts with such enthusiasm and clarity that I left each lesson not only more confident but with a real interest in the subject. Lessons are comprehensive and well-tailored to the specification. I believe that Victor’s guidance in Chemistry and Maths were invaluable in helping me to obtain A*s in all of my A-levels and securing a place at Oxford to study medicine.
A-level pupil, maths and chemistry
Our son started with Victor at the beginning of Year 7. We wanted to find a tutor who could help him keep up with maths in secondary school after he found his year 6 SATS challenging. We have been very pleased with his progress in the first year of tutoring, our son is very happy to do the lesson each week and has built a great rapport. Victor is very responsive to feedback, we share the school topics for the term/year and he works with that as well as doing more challenging work thinking ahead to GCSE. Our son even made his first attempt at a GCSE paper over the summer – and although there is a long way to go yet, we feel this is amazing progress from where he was with Year 6 SATS a year ago.

My son needed an A grade in chemistry in order to secure a place to read medicine at university. At the start of his final year, I was informed by the school that they were very pessimistic about his chances of achieving this grade and that, judging by his performance so far, he would be lucky to achieve a D grade. I felt very disappointed at hearing these words and set about finding a tutor. After some research, I found Victor’s profile and was so impressed that I enlisted his help for two sessions a week. My son said he was the best teacher he has ever had and when the results came through, I was congratulated by the same teacher who had previously been so pessimistic about his chances who informed me that he had actually come top in his entire year in the chemistry A-level exam! He achieved a very high A grade which bordered an A*

Victor is a superb teacher of physics and chemistry. He has the ability to really connect with his students and has an amazing talent at teaching both simple and more advanced topics. Because of Victor’s help in teaching my daughter A-level physics, she obtained an A* in her A-level and gained a place at Imperial to study physics.

We enlisted Victor to provide tuition for my daughter in the five months or so before her chemistry GCSE. She felt prior to her sessions that she simply didn’t understand chemistry at all. After her first lesson with Victor she came out and said that she had completely understood the material he had covered and had no idea why her school teacher couldn’t explain it the way he had. She said exactly the same after every subsequent lesson and went on to achieve a grade 9 in her GCSE exam!
